RESOLUTION NO. 11-2026
A RESOLUTION LIFTING THE
BAN ON OPEN FIRES AND THE USE OF FIREWORKS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Montezuma County, State of Colorado, based upon competent evidence, finds that the danger of forest and grass fires has decreased throughout the unincorporated areas of Montezuma County due to recent precipitation in the area, lower temperatures and increased relative humidity.
Therefore, it is no longer necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare through a fire ban under Montezuma County Ordinance No. 2-2015 and as enacted by Resolution 2-2026.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Montezuma County as follows:
I. That the ban on open fires and the use of fireworks is lifted and such activities are no longer prohibited, effective at 6:00 a.m. on October 7, 2026.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution is hereby adopted effective October 7, 2026 at 6:00 a.m.
