2026 GENERAL ELECTION INFORMATION

The November 3, 2026, Montezuma County General Election will be conducted as an all mail-ballot election. Ballots will be mailed to all active, eligible registered electors beginning October 5, 2026.

To be counted, completed mail ballots must be received by the Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, 2026.  Ballots must be in the Clerk and Recorder’s possession by that time. POSTMARKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Important Dates:

Thursday October 1, 2026 – The Logic and Accuracy test will be held at the Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder’s office starting at 9:00am. This is a public test, and all are welcome to attend.

Monday, October 5, 2026Ballots will be mailed to all eligible electors

Monday, October 19, 2026 – November 03, 2026 : The Cortez Voter Service and Polling Center will be open at the Montezuma County Annex 1 at 107 N. Chestnut St from 8am-5pm.

Saturday, October 31, 2026 – The Cortez Voter Service and Polling Center is open at the Montezuma County Annex 1 at 107 N. Chestnut St from 9am-1pm.

Tuesday, November 03, 2026 – Election Day – All VSPC Locations are open from 7am-7pm. 

***Please note that the Motor Vehicle office in Cortez will be closed on Election Day. You will still be able to perform motor vehicle transactions online at dmv.colorado.gov

Polling Locations Open until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, 2026

Eligible individuals may visit any Voter Service and Polling Center to:

  • Register to vote for the first time
  • Update an existing voter registration
  • Request an original or replacement mail ballot
  • Vote in person using accessible voting equipment

Saturday, Oct 31st – 9:00am to 1:00pm
