ORDINANCE NO. 2-2015
AMENDED FIRE BAN PURSUANT TO
C.R.S.§30-15-40l(l)(n.5) AND (n.7)
WHEREAS, the Montezuma County Board of Commissioners previously adopted Ordinance Nos. 1-2008 and 2-2014 regarding a fire ban, and found based upon competent evidence that the danger of forest and grass fires is high throughout the unincorporated areas of Montezuma County; and
WHEREAS, the Montezuma County Board of Commissioners finds that the immediate preservation of public health, safety and welfare, and to reduce the danger of wildfires, requires that the fire ban be amended.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Montezuma County Board of
Commissioners, under C.R.S. §30-5-401(1)(n.5) and (n.7) and 30-15-402 that Ordinance Nos. 1-2008 and 2-2014 be repealed and the fire ban is hereby amended as follows:
FIRE WEATHER WATCH in effect for Saturday, June 20, 2026
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels, which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening (noon to 10:00 pm).
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
Please help protect our county by staying fire aware and using extra caution.
Fire Restrictions by Jurisdiction
Please use caution when using anything that could cause a spark or fire, even when no restrictions are in effect. Fire danger is currently HIGH in Montezuma County.
