Resolution 3.1– 2026

A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL SUMS OF MONEY TO DEFRAY EXPENSES IN EXCESS OF AMOUNTS BUDGETED FOR MONTEZUMA COUNTY

Whereas, additional expenditure details for the General, Road and Bridge, Health and Landfill funds totaling $1,927,000 were not available at the time of the adoption of the 2026 budget due to the following:

General Fund

• $322,000 for 27th payroll for 2026
• $78,000 County Clean Up expenses
• $22,000 professional services expenses for Magellan Strategies and legal services

Road and Bridge Fund

• $72,000 for 27th payroll for 2026
• $128,000 increased costs for chip seal project
• $1,225,000 Road 25 and Highway 491 realignment. Funding for this project will include a transfer of available funds from the Road Impact Fee Fund.

Health Fund

• $55,000 for 27th payroll for 2026

Landfill Fund

• $25,000 for 27th payroll for 2026

Whereas, money is available in the General, Road and Bridge, Health, and Landfill Funds in the form of unappropriated or unrestricted funds.

Whereas, a supplemental budget is needed to defray these additional costs detailed above.

Whereas, these additional supplemental funds are a one-time expense to cover the costs detailed above.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONTEZUMA COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, COLORADO:

Section 1. That the 2026 General Fund appropriation be increased by $422,000.

Section 2. That the 2026 Road and Bridge Fund appropriation be increased by $1,425,000.

Section 3. That the 2026 Health Fund appropriation be increased by $55,000.

Section 4. That the 2026 Landfill Fund appropriation be increased by $25,000.
