Montezuma County » A RESOLUTION APPOINTING THE MEMBERS OF THE MONTEZUMA BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AS TEMPORARY ACTING COUNTY ADMINISTRATORS
WHEREAS, the Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners (“BOCC”) is authorized pursuant to Colorado law, including § 30-11-103, C.R.S., and related provisions, to organize its internal governance, administration, and operational procedures necessary for the conduct of County business; and
WHEREAS, the BOCC is authorized, but not required, to create the office of “County Manager or Administrative Assistant to the Board of County Commissioners” for the efficient management of the business and concerns of the County, pursuant to § 30-11-107, C.R.S.; and
WHEREAS, the BOCC ordinarily employs a County Administrator to direct, administer, and coordinate the activities of Montezuma County in accordance with the policies, goals, and objectives established by the BOCC; and
WHEREAS, County Administrator Travis Anderson has announced his retirement effective July 11, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the BOCC finds it necessary and in the best interests of Montezuma County to designate members of the BOCC to assume the functions that have been previously delegated to the County Administrator to ensure continuity of governmental operations, administration, coordination, and orderly conduct of County business.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONTEZUMA COUNTY, COLORADO:
The Board of County Commissioners hereby appoints:
as Temporary Acting County Administrators during the absence of a County Administrator for the period beginning on July 13, 2026, and continuing until modified by action of the BOCC.
In the event the policies of Montezuma County contemplate an appeal of the actions of the County Administrator to the BOCC, the commissioner whose action is being appealed shall not vote in the appeal but shall participate in the process in the role of Acting County Administrator.
Nothing herein shall be interpreted to grant unilateral legislative authority, independent appropriation authority, or authority to bind the County beyond the powers otherwise authorized by Colorado law, BOCC vote, adopted policy, emergency authority, or delegated administrative authority as articulated herein.
Nothing herein shall be interpreted as a waiver of the BOCC’s obligations as a duly authorized local government legislative and policy-making body under Colorado law.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
ADOPTED THIS 14th day of July, 2026, by the Board of County Commissioners of Montezuma County, Colorado.
