Jail Operations

During May 2026, the Montezuma County Detention Center housed a total of 131 inmates, bringing the year-to-date total to 698 inmates processed.

Summary

The Sheriff’s Office remained actively engaged in detention operations, inmate transportation, patrol services, investigations, civil process, and public safety enforcement throughout May 2026. Jail operations continued to account for a significant portion of agency resources, while deputies maintained proactive patrol efforts through traffic enforcement, security checks, community policing, and investigations. The office also generated more than $35,000 in combined revenue and grant reimbursements during the month while processing 132 calls for service and maintaining custody of 131 inmates.
